Rafiq started his professional journey with Jubilee Corporation in Karachi, Pakistan as the manager and controller of branches. Here he led the comprehensive management of commercial matters, overseeing finance, treasury, corporate, administrative support, and HR functions for an organization of 100+ staff with annual sales exceeding USD 200 million, conducted periodic evaluations of the business control framework, assessing risks, and developing/modifying plans and strategies for both head office and branches to ensure effective risk management and managed treasury functions, including import documentation and negotiation of forex rates, while analyzing and evaluating proposals for projects and investments.

After this stint he joined Aga Khan educational services as its CFO and managed and oversaw the comprehensive finance functions, including budgeting, planning, system controls, risk management, and procurement, ensuring a holistic approach to financial management, collaborated with key stakeholders to develop five-year plans, annual budgets, quarterly reports, and monthly cash flow reports, while maintaining strong fiscal and procurement controls.

After this he moved to Manji consulting in Uganda as a deputy director and offered expert consultancy services to clients for the accurate filing of monthly/annual VAT, Income Tax, and other statutory returns and delivered strategic financial and management consultancy to clients, optimizing operational efficiency and fiscal health, with a focus on providing tailored solutions for individual business needs. Soon he moved to Jasani Group of Companies, in Kampala, Uganda as its Chief Operating and Financial Officer. Here he was responsible for directing financial management across three group companies, ensuring statutory compliance, robust system controls, and effective risk management, while optimizing procurement strategies.

Currently he is involved with Ezy Packaging Solutions Ltd., in Kampala, Uganda as its Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for leading the strategic sourcing and procurement efforts for raw materials from diverse international markets, optimizing supply chains from China, India, Dubai, and East Africa, while also directing end-to-end business operations encompassing production, sales, marketing, and administration, successfully implementing strategies that enhanced overall efficiency and profitability
